Company Profile
History
Garcia Architecture (GA) was founded in Dallas, Texas, as Rafael Architects, Inc. in 1986 before relocating to Kansas City in 1989. Throughout the 1990s, we built a strong reputation for innovative design solutions in close collaboration with our clients. As our practice grew, so did our team—expanding to 58 staff members and broadening the range of services we offered.
In 2011, we refined our vision, values, and identity, rebranding as Garcia Architecture with a renewed focus on design innovation and collaboration while continuing to provide a full spectrum of architectural services honed over four decades.
As part of this evolution, we introduced Construction Management, initially as a supplementary service for smaller commercial clients seeking greater project efficiency and contractor control. Its success led to the establishment of Garcia Construction Management (GCM) in 2018, further expanding our ability to deliver comprehensive, client-focused solutions.
Mission
At Garcia Architecture, we are dedicated to delivering innovative and forward-thinking design solutions that not only meet but exceed the expectations of our clients. Through a collaborative approach, we work closely with our clients, understanding their unique goals, challenges, and vision to create custom designs that are both functional and inspiring.
Our team leverages the latest technologies available to architects combined with our creative expertise to challenge our own thinking to arrive at solutions that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also strategically impactful, ensuring long-term success and satisfaction. We believe that great design is a result of teamwork, communication, and a shared commitment to excellence.
Values and Vision
At Garcia Architecture, we deeply value the contributions of every team member, consultant, and client, believing that the best ideas can come from the shared vision of the team. We foster a collaborative environment where open communication is encouraged, and egos are left at the door. By embracing diverse perspectives and empowering all voices, we create designs that are not only innovative but also reflective of our collective expertise and shared vision.
Great design has the power to shape how people experience their surroundings. Architecture, beyond physical structures, is about creating spaces that draw people in, guide their movement, and enhance their experiences. While traditionally associated with buildings, architecture extends to streetscapes, parks, and courtyards—any environment that influences human interaction. Its true value lies in shaping experiences, setting the tone, and creating atmospheres that support and enrich the activities within them.
We believe design is evolving at an unprecedented pace. Advanced computing technologies enable instant testing of design variations, providing vast amounts of data to inform decisions. Meanwhile, innovations in material technology are making once-impractical structures not only feasible but achievable. Looking ahead, we see a future where creativity is bound only by imagination, with limitless possibilities on the horizon.
